The cross-country trek, named the “Parrot head Run” was created in honor of Mr. Buffett’s generosity. Joe, an avid animal lover, performed this in a professional grade racing wheelchair. Joe also struggled to co-found a unique project known as, D.A.I.S.E. (Disabled Astronaut’s Introduction into Space environment) with Mitchell Rappaport, President of the Center for People with Disabilities of Houston Texas. An inspirational adventure, involving Joe being groomed to become the very first Disabled Astronaut aboard the Space Shuttle.
